Teaser Tuesday 29 June: "Bliss" by Peter Carey

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of  Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along.  All you have to do is open the book you are currently reading to a page at random and share two sentences from that page.  Be careful not to include any spoilers and please share the title and author of the book so others can add it to their TBR list if they wish.

My teaser this week is from "Bliss" by Peter Carey an Australian writer:

"Pleased to meet you, Harry."  Billy de Vere placed a fistful of notes on the table.  "If you'll allow me," he said, "what will be your pleasure?"  p.63

  1. Sounds pretty good. I have a few more Carey books on my shelves now so I will try to get one soon!

  2. Pretty good teaser. What was his pleasure?

    Here's mine: http://harrischanningauthor.blogspot.com/

  3. Well Harris this time the pleasure is vintage brandy, specifically, Grande Armagnac :)

  4. Great teaser! I've read this one - was in two minds about it at the time, but I still remember the story vividly today so that must mean something - enjoy!

  5. I have only read one Carey. One of these days I will read more.

My teaser this week is from a YA fantasy novel.

  6. Ooo nice one. Now I'm wondering what he's buying.
    Or something more sinister?

Thanks for visiting my Teaser Tuesday :)

  7. I'll have 100 new books, please, as long as you're buying. Lol,oh, NOT books, you say? makes me wonder too what it is. Here is my teaser and review. Have a great week and happy reading.

  8. Big spender, huh? I've heard of Peter Carey, but haven't read anything by him yet. Love the teaser!

    Here’s my teaser from Damaged.

  9. I'm curious about what's going to happen next.

    Here's mine:

  10. I haven't read a Peter Carey book in ages and ages. Enjoy your book. Thanks for stopping by. Pussreboots.

  11. Not familiar with Peter Carey, but this is a good teaser. :) Mine's here

  12. Thanks everyone for dropping by. The pleasure in this case is Grande Armagnac some sort of vintage brandy.

Bliss is a strange tale to say the least. Hopefully I will get through it and have review up in a week or so :)

  13. Great teaser! I hope you will check out mine for Stephanie Meyer's latest novel The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner! Also, if you check back on my blog this Friday I have huge news about the novels I had been submitting to agents/publishers!
