Teaser Tuesday is a fun meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. All you have to do is open your current read to a random page and provide two teaser sentences from that page. Be sure not to give away any spoilers and include the name of the book and author so others know what you are reading.
This week my teaser is from Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South:
Oh dear! how she could have loved him if he had but been different, with a difference which she felt, on reflection, to be one that went low -deep down. Then she took it into her head that, after all, his lightness might be but assumed, to cover a bitterness of disappointment which would have been stamped on her own heart if she had loved and been rejected. p.30
Very deep - the classics generally are.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Booklover Book Reviews.
I have no idea what she's trying to say. LOL.
ReplyDeleteMine's from Empress by Karen Miller.
Um, I got a little lost too.
ReplyDeleteHere’s My Teaser
Don't worry the whole book is like this with these endless sentences. It is taking a bit of getting through :)
ReplyDeleteThis novel (and the 2004 film) left me with a deep, abiding affection for Elizabeth Gaskell. I think reading North & South induced almost as many swoons as Austen's Persuasion.
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is from Jen Lancaster’s funny Such a Pretty Fat: One Narcissist’s Quest to Discover If Her Life Makes Her Ass Look Big; Or, Why Pie Is Not the Answer.
I've been reading Jane Austen in June and it really hard to understand at once but I really enjoy it.This one seems like a good one but with a deeper meaning.Here’s mine;
